The Nikka Takestsuru 17 years old is a Japanese whiskey. More specifically, it is a blended whiskey, whose name is a tribute to the founder of the brand, Masataka Taketsurux.

A few years ago, this bottle was sold for a much lower price, but after the strong demand that Japanese whiskeys have undergone in recent years, the bottle has seen a sudden increase in price and nowadays it is almost impossible to find it at prices that are not at least double (if not triple) compared to a few years ago.

TASTING NOTES –  NIKKA TAKETSURU 17 YEARS OLD

Nose

This Japanese whiskey develops a mix of red fruits, ripe fruits and fig jam. The aromatic palette continues on nuts (hazelnut in particular). Spices and a light note of peat are also present.

Palate

Warm and round. It reveals notes of red fruits (cherries) and spices (cinnamon and white pepper). Hints of wood and creme brûlée complete the aromatic palette of this blended Japanese whisky.

Finish

Medium-long persistency. Wood and spices, then toffee. Lastly, aromatic herbs.

Overall, the Nikka Taketsuru 17 years old is an easy product to appreciate, that reveals a very balanced aromatic palette. Very satisfying as well.
